Amadablam, NorthWest Side (6856m) |
The distinctive outline of Ama Dablam begins to crumble as one heads northwest from Thyangboche. By the time one reaches Pheriche, it looks like an entirely different mountain. The peak at 6135m on the west ridge becomes more conspicuous, standing by itself like an individual mountain, while Ama Dablam assumes a triangular shape. Viewed from the old moraine that is 4500m high and overlooks Pheriche, Ama Dablam appears to be sitting down. The west ridge resembles Machhapuchhre (FishTail), drawing close to Ama Dablam.(Photo Credit: Scott Yost)
