Chhahari BaghChaal 1.0

Chhahari BaghChaal is a fun two-player game. It is an easy game to learn. Playing it well, however, requires some serious thinking.

The game is played on a board like this.

(put picture).

The board, as you can see, has 25 spots (the vertices). Movements are allowed only along the edges to an adjacent spot.

Bagchal is played with:
4 pieces that the "tigers" or "bagh"s
20 pieces that are the "goats" or "boka"s

The game's premise is simple:
Tigers 'kill' goats, whenever they can;
and 'goats' lock up tigers whenever they can.

How to play

The Standard Board:

1. The four tigers occupy the four corner spots and it is now the goat's turn. (see picture 2)

2. The goats notice that that there are 21 open spots. (see picture 2) A goat can be placed in any of those open spots.

3. The tiger captures the goat if it can jump straight over a goat and land on an open spot.

(See picture 3 for good and safe goat moves.
(See picture 4 four for not-so-safe goat moves.

A goat player would want to avoid such self-destructive moves!! A captured or killed goat is never allowed back in the game.

4. Now on to Tiger's move: The 'tiger' player can move any of the four
tigers to an adjacent open spot along the edge (like a rook in chess), or
if possible, capture a goat as described in above.

5. Goats and tigers continue alternating turns as above.

6. Soon a scenario develops when all twenty goats have been placed on the
board. Unless the tigers have killed some goats, there will now be four
tigers, 20 goats, and one open spot on the board. (see picture 5)

7. Goats are now allowed to move just as the tigers except they cannot capture or kill a tiger.

8. The tiger player and the goat player again continue alternating turns until:

All four tigers are locked up and cannot move and capture goats.
If so, goats win!

At least five goats have been captured. If so, tigers win!
